Driving Through Monroe, Michigan in Search of Cryptids
The Believe It Tour crew decided a quick stop in Monroe, Michigan was in order to see the infamous spot where a frightening incident occurred in 1965. This was an encounter that was rather unique since it took a violent turn when a Sasquatch hit one of the witnesses in the face.
It was mid August when Christine van Acker and her mother encountered a Bigfoot in Monroe. The cryptid reached into the car and hit van Acker in the eye giving her a black eye just before the two women quickly drove away. At the time of the incident the media picked up the story and published a photo of van Acker’s injuries and a drawing of the creature that attacked her.
As the Bigfoot encounter happened 45 years ago we knew it would be a challenge to find anyone still living in the town with first hand knowledge of the incident. However, it was still part of the adventure to drive through the area where such an encounter took place.

Am I the only one that’s wondering where the real James “Bobo” Fay is on Animal Planet’s show Finding Bigfoot? Watching the episodes, I feel bad that Bobo is basically used as a prop. A Squatch stand-in if you will.
Bobo Fay and Mike Esordi looking for Bigfoot tracks near Orleans, California
In real life, Bobo is quite a character and a very funny guy. All of us in the Bigfoot community, that have been on expeditions with Bobo or have just hung out with him at a Bigfoot event, know that he’s much more animated than portrayed on Finding Bigfoot.
I’ll never forget the time, at the opening of the Bigfoot Wing at the China Flat Museum in Willow Creek, California, when I was having lunch during the break with Bobo, Daniel Perez, and a few others. This was the first time I met Bobo and he had me in stitches. Between the serious stories Daniel was sharing and the side commentary that was provided by Bobo it made for quite an entertaining afternoon.
Don’t get me wrong, Bobo takes the research side extremely seriously and he’s very knowledgeable about the subject. He just knows how to have fun along with all of that.
Knowing what it’s like to be in the field with Bobo, I can’t help, but think that Finding Bigfoot would be a much better show if they included some of the real Bobo rather than just the big guy that makes for a good Squatch comparison.

Bob Gimlin signing a Bigfoot footprint cast The Believe It Tour fundraising auction is going full swing with several collectible items already sent off to winning bidders. However, don’t worry about missing out since there are still more great items to be posted.
Today, we started accepting bids for one of the highlight items in the auction. It’s an authentic Bigfoot footprint cast from the legendary Patterson-Gimlin film site of 1967 in Bluff Creek, California. Not only is this one of the most famous tracks for Bigfoot enthuiests, but it’s been signed by Bob Gimlin, which makes this a very collectible piece.

Before Finding Bigfoot became a show on Animal Planet, finding Bigfoot is what the Bigfoot researchers I know spend hours upon hours of their lives trying to do. The team of Matt Moneymaker, Cliff Barackman, James “Bobo” Fay, and Ranae Holland were fortunate enough to have their research documented for a new TV show.
I am just as excited as many others I know, to watch Finding Bigfoot tonight. The part I was disappointed to learn was all the negative press on the fact that producers of the show added in wood-knocking without marking it as a simulation. Knowing Bobo and Cliff and how serious they are about Bigfoot research it’s a shame to have their work tainted in the eyes of the viewers that only hear the negative side of the story.
For me, I am all for introducing Bigfoot research to more people. I will gladly be watching this evening and try to view it as someone unfamiliar with the field to see how they might perceive it. I’m sure after the show many of us will be discussing the show and if it was helpful to the many dedicated researchers out there trying to find Bigfoot.

Finding Bigfoot on Animal Planet Sundays at 10pm. After watching the show let us know what you think.

A few days ago a huge carcass of a strange creature washed up under the Brooklyn Bridge in New York, on the Manhattan side. Covered in scales with a head that resembled a pit bull, this decaying mystery beast had people making all sorts of claims. However, the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation has come out to say it is nothing other than an Atlantic sturgeon.

The 23rd Annual Ohio Bigfoot Conference weekend at Salt Fork State Park is now history. Last year Believe It Tour hosted a roundtable discussion on Technology in Bigfoot research. This year we stepped it up and hosted Expedition Salt Fork, which was a two part research project. The first part had one group venturing out into the night doing call blasts with night vision on the ready to catch a glimpse of any action. The following morning a larger group was led on an evidence gathering hike into an area of the park with some known activity.
Ohio Bigfoot - Expedition Salt Fork
Unfortunately, as much as we would like to report that our expedition team located the elusive Ohio Bigfoot, we aren’t able to make that claim this time.
Nevertheless, the event proved to be a success for bringing awareness to the research that is going on in the Bigfoot field. It was also great to have families join us. At times it was difficult to tell who was into it more, the kids or the parents.
Prior to heading out on Friday morning the expedition group gathered for a couple of demonstrations. First was a workshop on was proper evidence gather techniques led by Believe It Tour’s Diana Smith. Followed by track casting dos and donts by Paul Mitchell of the Ohio Bigfoot Organization.
Diana Smith demonstrating proper evidence gathering techniques
Another side event that was put on Saturday afternoon was the Steven W. Pickett Memorial BBQ. Steven, better known to fellow Bigfoot Researchers as Indy, had passed away last year and this gathering was to honor the founder of United States Bigfoot Research Association (USBRA). It was a great event where you could spend some time talking with old frineds and meeting many new.
All of these events led up to the main event, the Ohio Bigfoot Conference. As usual, host Don Keating, had a full line-up of interesting speakers. Dr. Esteban Sarmiento, Dina Palazini, Carl Johnson, Ron Moorehead, and Igor Burtsev kept the crowd engaged as the night went on.
 23rd Annual Ohio Bigfoot Conference
A big congratulations to Don on another great Ohio Bigfoot Conference. Believe It Tour will be sure to support future events. Thanks also to everyone that attended our Expedtion Salt Fork outings and supported us by picking up merchandise at our vendor table. To all our new friends – stay in touch!

John Green - Al Hodgson - Bob Gimlin
It’s almost been a month since “The Sasquatch Summit – a Tribute to John Green,” which was held in Harrison Hot Springs, British Columbia. For the first few weeks, we were caught up in the flood of photos, videos, and reviews we posted after the event. Now that everything is caught up and we’ve settled back into our daily routines I thought it would be a good idea to organize the numerous videos and photos that Believe It Tour made available.
We have a YouTube playlist of all the speakers from the event. The list includes Dr. Jon Bindernagel, Dr. Jeff Meldrum, John Green, Thomas Steenburg, Christopher Murphy, Loren Coleman, and Igor Burtsev. » View Sasquatch Summit Videos
We also have a flickr set from the weekend as well. » View Sasquatch Summit Photos
